Case Studies
IXC operates at the early, highly confidential stages of the process of bringing new ideas to market, some of the successes we can mention are described in outline below.
IXC finds solutions
A pharmaceutical Client developed a new class of drugs which showed great promise in vitro, but encountered difficulties delivering the molecules into the cells. IXC identified a nanotechnology company on the other side of the world working on industrial polymers. An IXC Intermediary visited the company, signed their confidentiality agreement and validated the potential application to drug delivery. IXC Intermediaries facilitated a conference call and a Materials Transfer Agreement ensued. The process was quick, creative and secure. To quote the CEO of the pharma company, "It would be irresponsible to place a monetary value on this opportunity, but it saved us a year of development".
IXC reduces risk
IXC introduced a global food manufacturer to a university spin-out company with expertise in enzyme technology as applied to industrial chemistry. The larger company had concerns about infringing a third party's IP rights, which would have precluded them pursuing this engagement. The IXC Intermediary signed their confidentiality agreement and was able to help them find an ethical resolution. Using IXC's unique methodology, it was possible to bring together the two organisations without risk of IP contamination.
IXC provides opportunities for growth
The large company has safely embarked on a successful product innovation program using expertise they were unlikely to have found without IXC's assistance, and the young spin-out company has gained crucial revenue and market credibility.
From the spin-out CEO, "Like many biotech companies we are a 'born global' business as the opportunity is primarily overseas rather than in our home market. The key to winning international customers is credibility and track record - securing this customer contract is a fantastic step forward in our goal of building an international business."
IXC gets results
IXC has brought together leading research organisations to jointly work on a project that will ultimately benefit cancer patients. IXC Client, a major national research organisation, developed a novel medical imaging agent and required a suitable clinical partner to further the work. IXC Intermediaries identified researchers at a medical research institute as having the most appropriate clinical expertise. The connection created by IXC will see both groups creating a product that will improve cancer diagnosis and the selection of treatment regimes for individual patients.
IXC creates the future
Two technology companies in close proximity have IXC Intermediaries working inside them. One is a small manufacturing company, the other is a listed biotech. They 'know' each other. Discussing the highly confidential details of these two Clients' technology plans, IXC Intermediaries recognised the potential to produce a new platform technology. Initial reactions were sceptical, but IXC facilitated the first few meetings and the idea was embraced. Together these two Clients have applied for significant funding and committed people to the project.
