Issue Statement

Richard Hames summed up the findings from the Water Technologies Breakthrough Forum and delivered an issues statement that incorporated the major themes that were uncovered throughout the day.

The issues identified were:

1) The need to change mindsets at a national level. It is imperative to have a coherent strategic framework, inclusive of all stakeholders, for a 10-15 year view of the challenges that we will face in the future.

2) Use this framework to make investment decisions into solutions. Both low tech and high tech innovations will be required to address the challenges of Australia's water future.

3) Educate the community as a whole to change the behavioural patterns of individuals.

4) Engage the global community in discourse that 'matters' to Australia. The need to access networked intelligence from overseas and to effectively connect local innovations to the world market is crucial to producing the best solutions possible.

5) The use of bio-mimicry in solutions that address the challenges of Australia's water future.
