The IXC Intermediary Service
IXC Clients
IXC Clients are large multinational businesses, small hi-tech startups, universities and research institutions. They include leading global firms such as ResMed, Fonterra, the Crane Group and Johnson & Johnson Research; smaller new technology firms such as Applimex Systems and MiniFab, major research institutes such as the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute and universities including Birmingham, Monash and Newcastle.
IXC Clients are looking for ideas and solutions that work for them - quickly, efficiently and safely.
The IXC Intermediary Service
There are three components:
1. Highly skilled and carefully trained IXC Intermediaries, especially selected for their creativity, lateral thinking and commercial awareness, working on the inside of Client organisations
2. A network of IXC Intermediaries, neutral go-betweens who can talk freely amongst themselves
3. A controlled process for bringing organisations together safely

Day to day
Each IXC Intermediary works inside four to six Client organisations, spending between a half and two days a week in each. The IXC Intermediary Service is delivered on a fee for service basis by annual contract. Shorter, project-based contracts are also available.
IXC Intermediaries are trained in the IXC Methodology, which includes ethics, IP management, creative thinking and a proprietary framework for analysing technologies.
Sensitive Client information is shared amongst IXC Intermediaries using a secure database - 'the Vault'. Client needs and capabilities are continuously updated and high value connections are found by matching these logged intentions with other organisations' intentions and technologies.
IXC Intermediaries create connections to:
- Collaborate to solve problems or to create opportunities
- Securely access new IP - including technologies, capabilities and expertise
- Find better ways to exploit a Client's existing IP
- Speed up business innovation, product development and collaborative R&D
- Link a Client's internal innovation and R&D programs to the power of global innovation networks
These connections can be made without disclosing the identity of IXC Clients before they are ready to proceed. Then, IXC's proprietary step-wise disclosure process allows IXC Intermediaries to facilitate direct engagements between legally separate entities quickly, safely and efficiently. IXC develops long term relationships of trust with our Clients and can vary the intensity of our engagement as necessary - from two full days a week of the IXC Intermediary Service, to simply maintaining a 'watching brief' with the lower cost IXC Access Service.
IXC Watching Brief Service
For very small organisations, or for Clients whose need for an IXC Intermediary varies, IXC has developed the IXC Watching Brief. After an initial period during which the IXC Intermediary absorbs the Client's needs, capabilities and strategic intentions, they maintain regular online contact with the Client supported by quarterly site visits.
